The first Snapdragon Wear 4100 smartwatch may arrive on September 24

  • The first smartwatch using a Snapdragon Wear 4100 could be Mobvoi’s TicWatch Pro 3.
  • A deleted tweet hinted at blood-oxygen monitoring and a September 24 debut.
  • An Amazon listing may have shown what it will look like.

You might not have to wait too long to get a Wear OS smartwatch with Qualcomm’s improved (and arguably overdue) Snapdragon Wear 4100 chip. Mobvoi appears to be close to releasing a promised sequel to the TicWatch Pro that could be the first watch with the faster processor.

Reddit users (via Droid Life) and 9to5Google have discovered a since-modified Amazon UK listing and a deleted Mobvoi tweet that hinted at plans to release the Snapdragon Wear 4100-based TicWatch Pro 3 in a matter of weeks. The store listing had the release slated for October 1, but Mobvoi said the watch would debut on September 24.

There weren’t many feature details, but Mobvoi said the Pro 3 would offer SpO2 (blood oxygen) monitoring. The Pro 3 might not be a small watch, with a 45.1mm case similar to earlier TicWatch Pro models.

The Amazon listing mentioned a UK price of £300, or about $400. That would make it significantly more expensive than earlier TicWatch Pro models (the Pro 2020 normally costs $260), although we’d caution that the listing has been changed to a generic “TicWatch” with a different look and price — don’t be surprised if the final price is different than what you see here.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Mobvoi’s technological lead (if it has one) is brief. BBK’s Xiaotiancai should also have a kids’ watch on the market, and we’d expect Wear OS proponents like Fossil to have Snapdragon 4100 smartwatches in the pipeline. Still, the TicWatch Pro 3 might be your best bet if you insist on having the most advanced Google-powered smartwatch as soon as possible.
